Pros

- great benefits - systematic promotions - opportunities to travel - educational opportunities - supportive chain-of-command makes the difference - lots of days off

Cons

- quality of job satisfaction entirely dependent upon interaction with chain-of-command - needs of the Army trump personal needs - poor pay compared to private sector

Pros

A good stepping stone that any all who are eligible should take. They provide everything you need from start to finish, as long as you give 100%, you will have no problems. Amazing health benefits; when my daughter was born not a penny out of pocket, or for anything else that life may throw at you, as long as there isn't any gross negligence involved. There is a great bond with you and your fellow soldiers, that many miss when they get out. A Band of Brothers.... if you will

Cons

Time away from family: Its a bullet that most of us have to bite, and deployment may not be the most pleasurable or cleanest experience you will ever have. Details come to those who are lower rank, but as you move up, less manpower and more brain power will be asked of you.

Pros

Soldiers, soldiers, soldiers; opportunities to develop leadership skills; travel around the world; steady paycheck; great medical, dental, vision benefits; four weeks of paid leave a year

Cons

Deployments, deployments, deployments; promotion is only based on time and not merit or performance; some army bases are located in very small towns
