Pros

Federal benefits are difficult to beat. Excellent job security. Opportunity for travel, if this is a priority. Good Resume builder.

Cons

Frequent travel to unpopular places (read: Iraq and Afghanistan). Pay is less than industry average. Promotions not made on merit.

Pros

Tremendously challenging and rewarding especially when working as a part of a cohesive team. Nothing better than knowing that the work and efforts work in tandem for the common accomplishment of the mission. Great pay and benefits.

Cons

Great possibility of working for a toxic leader. Unfortunately, there is too much an acceptance of "Toxic Leadership." Toxic leaders usually get the job done but abuse the human capital they are supposedly leading.
