Pros

Free clothes. Training. It's not just a job, it's a misadventure.

Cons

Wearing the same clothes every day. Going through all of the training and having it wasted.

Pros

You can not beat the benefits that the Army or any of the Armed Forces can give you. You will never find a closer bond than what you will serving with fellow brothers and sisters in the armed forces. Its more than just a job and not everyone can say that they have served their country not to mention a country that is at war. II dont regret serving one second but it was time to move on but the training I received will help me throughout my life. You will not find a better place to be than the US Army.

Cons

You could spend a lot of time away from you home. Depending on where you are at, you could be talked down too like you are a little kid but not all places are like that. You will be trained to ignore a lot of things but your family will not so they are the ones that suffer the most. The pay isn't anywhere close to what civilians get paid to do the same jobs overseas. It doesn't make sense when you think about it. Why stay in if you can make the same amount of money in 1-2 months as you do in a year.

Pros

Serving your Country and travel. Serving your country is self explanitory. The travel is great I have been all over the Country and World but not always to the greatest of places. The benefits in the army are also good, using the PX and Commisary which are both tax free are great ways to save money. You can also find some pretty good deals on designer clothes, jewelery, perfumes, toys, electronics, tools, etc from the PX. Other beniftis of the military are free healthcare and dental coverage. This is great because medical bills will pile up fast and can become very expensive.

Cons

Military Towns to me are the biggest downsides to working in the US Army. Most of the towns surrounding posts are awful. Crime is high, poverty is high, and they are in the middle of no where. Very few are in major cities, so if your into country living than these living arrangements wont bother you at all. Another downside to the US Army is the overall Pay. The governemnt has made great strides to try to make the pay competitive to civilian jobs. But they fall short in my estimate by about 10,000$ In my view with the hours we put in soldiers should be compensated above civilian pay charts.
