      Very agreeable compensation Flexible schedule Enjoyable camaraderie Sense of pride from working for the US gov't Lots of opportunities to make "Silence of the Lamb" references involving fava beans Solid, comprehensive and PAID training Good experience for individuals interested in campaign field work

      Temporary Interactions with citizens can be tenuous, unpleasant, downright creepy Lots of tedious paperwork Nobody really wants to speak with a census-taker Employers don't generally care much if you have USCB experience-- it's nearly worthless on a resume

      Flexible hours, different work environments, good base pay and mileage reimbursement, meet variety of people, feeling of working for a cause

      Cons

      This was a temporary position ended all too soon. Not recognized as government employee for purposes of benefits or additional work opportunities. Policies were constantly changing, sometimes on a daily basis.
