      Relaxed atmosphere where you only have to work as hard as you want to

      Relaxed atmosphere, flexible schedule and telework, free parking and easy metro access, on-site cafeteria

      Cons

      Promotions generally come from within branches and are hard for those outside to get, differing expectations and benefits across directorates, dealing with angry survey respondents, lazy workers are just shifted from one office to the other (or promoted!) with no repercussions

      good work/life balance, gym in the building, teleworking opportunities, flexible schedule

      Cons

      political dependencies, inappropriate promotions (e.g. promotions based on quotas), building is located in a poor, not-so-safe area, if you're a motivated employee you will have to lower your standards to fit in, co-workers are lazy (on average)

      Pros

      Great 9 to 5 job with excellent benefits, including health care, TSP, and matching funds for retirement. Geography division allows you ample opportunity to contribute as much or as little as possible in the business of one's own area.

      Cons

      Tedious sometimes boring tasks that dull one's GIS analysis skills. This is not a graduate students dream job. Headquarters is located in Suitland, MD one of the worst suburbs of Washington DC surrounded by poverty, violence, and completely lacking in quality amenities. The location contributes greatly to the dissatisfaction of many.
