      Good but repetitive work

      Pros

      -Telework twice a week -Good government benefits -Work with interesting data which describes the U.S. economy and population -A lot of flexibility -If you get a good manager then it is very comfortable

      Cons

      -The work can get very repetitive since you are producing data sets on an annual or quarterly basis -Much of the upper management does not encourage creativity or new ideas. There is not a lot of opportunity for research or side projects. -There is not always a lot of good communication between different branches or surveys at the Census, which could greatly benefit the accuracy of the data collected.

      Pros

      I would highly recommend their Pathways Internship Program. Interns were given the opportunity to collaborate on projects with their branch, and got to develop their own data visualization. We also had weekly professionalization seminars. Everyone there is so friendly and willing to help/offer advice.

      Cons

      They were in the process of sorting though how to track company time that summer. It was clear that many of the employees were unsatisfied with that process.

      Pros

      The work done by the Census Bureau is very important. The Economic Census forms the baseline for most major economic indicators in the United States. Pretty interesting, quantitative work. Great work-life balance.

      Cons

      Depending on your branch, the work can be very slow at times. It really depends on where you are and who you're working for. Some days there would be very little to do.
