Pros
Decent pay, consistent schedule. I like working with some of the farmers and some of the people from other agencies. You get to travel a bit within the state for "training" and conferences on the government dime.
Cons
The bureaucracy is overwhelming. People who don't do their jobs get promoted, anyone who comments on this gets reprimanded. If you do too good of a job, you get to do everyone else's work too, without any recognition. The level of drama is worse than high school, people are constantly talking behind each other's backs trying to get people in trouble, and the management is part of the problem. The sedentary nature of the job encourages unhealthy lifestyles; depression is very common. Bottom line, you don't want to work for the federal government.
