Pros

What better way to have a direct impact on your neighborhood or community! By sharing the ideas we have with local foodservice operators -- by taking the time to be a consultant, we can literally impact the economy within our communities with our hearts and passion. By continuing to grow without compromising our heritage, quality and focus on our operators, U.S. Foodservice has developed through it's actions a growing reputation within the U.S. market as an innovative, culinary leader. We are growing each month across the nation, while the cash cube is trimming the fat, turnin over M.A.'s and raising their pads, thus alienating seasoned veteran's as their commissions are declining. U.S. Foodservice is growing, developing more positions as business is developing. I have personally witnessed the focus on our customers and commitment to our U.S. Foodservice employees and their communities. As THE industry leader, U.S. Foodservice has made significant changes in it's transportation & delivery department's to use less emissions in supporting a more sustainable planet for our children. U.S. Foodservice was the first to offer "Green" products including compostable and bio-degradable products. U.S. Foodservice has industry leading online order entry, reporting, and business-building tools. U.S. Foodservice does a great job hiring good people that take pride in what they do day in and day out.

Cons

Of course there are downsides with every company -- just like a family. However, I feel it's subjective... what one person sees as a "downside", another may not so I will not contribute my impression of "cons".

Pros

US Foodservice treats their employees fairly. They will work with their employees to make sure they are using their skills appropriately, and will work with them to find ways to do so if they aren't currently. I have seen numerous situations where people have been reassigned, as opposed to terminated, or even where they have created positions to hold on to people that they value as employees. They do a good job promoting diversity in the workplace. Improvement has been made over the years towards a more transparent management structure; i.e. information makes its way down to the workers faster so the rumor mill doesn't hav a chance to get started, which is never a good situation...

Cons

I feel overall, that the company isn't very progressive. I think I work for a very progressive division of the company, but a lot of it is still 'business as usual' mentality. I've tried to address some issues with HR, and the generic response I've gotten is along the lines of, "We are thinking of implementing something like that, but it will be some time." It seems to be a highly fragmented business, with different divisions doing different things, and while I believe they are all doing so with corporates consent, it doesn't seem terribly efficient to my untrained eye.
