Pros

Thorough training, nice base pay, and federal job on a resume, and you fight to beat the time rather than sit and watch it go by.

Cons

Very stressful, strict time constraints, sporadic work loads, and Christmas is a very tough time of year.

Pros

Many benefits including retirement plan, steady employment, opportunities for advancement, offices around the country which makes it easy for people who would like to move around.

Cons

For new employees, the benefits package will be reduced or become more expensive. More difficult now to be hired as a full time permanent employee. With the reduction of Postal facilities around the country, opportunities for advancement will shrink.
