Pros

Strives for work-life balance. Compensation is above average. Starting time-off is generous (1wk personal days and 2 wks vacation) plus another week on your 3rd and 10th year. Great culture when I started in 2002.

Cons

Extremely competitive industry. Always the fear of being bought. Certain senior leaders are not held accountable.

Pros

Good pay, fast paced but still fun. I got recognition and a decent promotion after a year as a call rep. MOST of the coaches were awesome. I had always been personable and good in any service job but they invest in their peeps and you improve and get the recognition you deserve. I had great trainers also. I kinda miss them sometimes! My work life balance was never any problem in the call center in Tulsa. The Corp events are awesome too.

Cons

I experienced a case of REVERSE discrimination from my Sup. and the upper bosses were too intimidated to address it. The CEO takes open door policy VERY seriously and walks his talk but you know, once you make that wave there's no going back with managers. I was treated by middle management like I was the problem for speaking up. If it wasn't for such a drastic situation I still feel I would be there. I was very happy before that. No idea what it's like since Jay & Jack retired but THEY ROCKED

Pros

US Cellular offers a great work environment, knowledgable and willing training and support staff. Excellent incentives and insurance really make working in a call center more bearable, and there's always something fun going on around the center.

Cons

At the end of the day, it's still a call center. You speak with customer's who will likely never talk to you again, and that gives them the bravery to say whatever they want to you. Generally they're nice, but you always live with the fear of getting the one that isn't. Also, the work gets monotonous, fast.
