      Almost impossible to advance, easier to get hired from outside the company than move up.

      Pros

      Pay is about standard for the industry. Insurance benefits are a little above average I would say. People you are "in the trenches" with are a tight knit group. They take care of each other

      Cons

      No possibility for advancement. If you are doing a good job, they want to keep you in that role no matter what so as to no rock the boat. People from outside the company can be hired in with almost no experience, but an internal candidate has several obstacles they must overcome to be considered for promotion.

      Pros

      U.S. Cellular has a great system of values and behaviors! The people are good, the organization is small enough to move fast and network well. U.S. Cellular has a great business strategy. I always loved that empowerment was given to the front line employees.

      Cons

      The Value of Diversity has turned into reverse discrimination. Being a white male means you must be leaps and bounds better than peers or external candidates in order to be promoted. The company is also slow to accept feedback and becomes defensive when suggestions are made. Ultimately though, they make necessary changes after a long amount of time.

      Pros

      There are some wonderful, caring people that work there. I have made lifelong friends there and feel that most of the people are there for the right reasons.

      Cons

      The company claims to be something that it is not. Their catch phrase is "Believe in something better" and they claim to do things differently-but they are now making decisions that are definitely NOT in the best interest of their employees or their customers.
