I really enjoyed my time at UWCU. The benefits were great, the environment was very collaborative, and the team I worked with was awesome. There were also a number of opportunities for professional training & development.

Cons

When I was there in 2019, the company had some 'old school' views, like hesitation around WFH policies for example. Though since I left, it's possible they have addressed this.

Pros

UWCU hires people more for their integrity than their financial knowledge, which makes for a great company culture. While metrics and goals are important, the emphasis is on doing what's in the best interest of the members. It's a great feeling to be able to help people every day, and to know that you will always be supported as long as that's what's motivating you.

Cons

Branches are sometimes understaffed because of higher turnover rate among teller staff. Understandable, since that is a stressful position to be in day in and day out, but it makes for a difficult situation for everyone when there isn't enough staff to handle the flow of traffic.
