      Pros

      Formerly great benefits, currently still good, but forever erroding. Certain departments have great culture. When you start, you'll feel like you can make a difference.

      Cons

      You rapidly realize no matter how hard you work, you likely can't make a true difference. Doctors egos often trump common sense. State employer in a state with a war of public workers. Little to no advancement and said little advancement is often in name only. Pay increases don't often beat inflation. Overall culture harkens back to the 50's and 60's style. More entrenched middle management than you can shake a stick at. More VPs than you could ever learn the names of, much less ever meet or know what they actually do.
