Pros

I worked as a lifeguard at the Research Park location and found the people that worked at and attended the facility to be extremely kind. My supervisors were very flexible and good to me. Pay was pretty good considering the average lifeguard wage is much lower.

Cons

Raises are very small and come very sparingly. I worked there for nearly 3 years and only got one raise of, like, 16 cents. Also, when the facility is understaffed, supervisors must go through the UW-Health HR department to hire new people. This process is painstakingly slow, and it causes much stress for employees while they struggle to cover shifts that could be covered easily if there were ways to speed up the process.

Cons

Parking and fees, non-competitive salaries or wages (especially for non-RN positions) and HR department in general, outdated facilities, too many committees without clear direction- takes forever to get a decision made

Pros

Great place to work! Everyone is helpful and it is a great place to start off a nursing career. It is a teaching hospital as well and offers tuition reimbursement. I started in the nurse residency program which is accredited and extremely competitive. If you are able to get a spot in the program cherish it because it is phenomenal. Best hospital in the state!

Cons

Constantly changing policies and procedures, often short on staff, the normal every other weekend shift which you should already be aware of if you are in the healthcare field.
