Pros

The health benefits were very good. And there’s a lot of genuinely kind and really talented folks that work here that were committed to putting out a good product that helped a lot of people out - it’s a pretty cool mission. And I have nothing but positive things to say about the vast majority of my colleagues that I got to work with on a daily basis.

Cons

My position unfortunately required regular interaction with the C-Suite, primarily with the CEO and CFO, who are brothers. As many other reviews on here can attest to, working for those two was nothing short of a miserable experience. Micromanagement, condescension and cultivating a culture that’s geared solely towards serving them is what those two are great at doing. Zero trust, autonomy or empowerment of their employees, including those below them in senior leadership positions. Incessant meddling, in even the most mundane and smallest of tasks or projects. Without a doubt, the worst leaders I’ve had the misfortune of working for in my career. Many of my colleagues that had these regular interactions and meetings were either completely resigned to the fact that it was a total beating to work for these guys and it just was what it was (“That’s Dr. C for ya!”), or they were downright miserable. Or both. While I knew it was bad when I was there, and it was the main reason why I quit, I didn’t truly grasp how dysfunctional it was until I had left the company and started my new job at a normal company working for normal people. It re-affirmed everything I had experienced. When you interview, make sure you understand the structure and if you’ll be micromanaged by those guys. If not, and there’s a buffer zone (or two or three) between you and them, there’s a decent chance you might actually enjoy working at UWorld. If you do interview for a position that has to regularly meet with and answer to the C-suite directly, I urge you to run for the hills. It ain’t close to worth it, the pay isn’t remotely good enough for what they’ll put you through. PS, all the 5 star reviews from the team in India is doing a lot of heavy lifting for UWorld’s Glassdoor rating. Make of that what you will.
