Pros

Really work hard to train staff and gather feedback about best practices, Great at developing a sense of urgency in staff to support and educate children and youth Really want to make sure the staff as a whole feel appreciated for the hours spent at work Really stressed both academic rigor and joy in the lives of children If you are a young teacher who has very little outside responsibilities and feel like you need lots of professional development, this is a great place.

Cons

Very little diversity, both racially and economically amongst educators Never addressed the impact and importance of diversity to supporting the students in the classroom The work teachers did seem to matter most Had to "drink the kool-aid" in order to really move forward in the organization, thus any real difference of opinion was heard but not welcome or encouraged. The importance of (SEL) Social emotional learning was never addressed while I was working there

Pros

• Great mission and purpose •Providing urban children with charter/private school level of education

Cons

•Long hours •Lack of balance between personal and work life •Military like structure i.e walking on color code lines in hallways and classrooms, no talking during lunch, sitting with hands in star position at all times, and extreme techniques when a child is reprimanded. •Lack of communication and respect between admin staff •Overworking teachers •Not enough training •Forcing office staff to be more stern and demanding when interacting with parents and students • more concerned with raising and keeping attendance numbers for funding
