Pros

A fantastic portfolio of familiar brands.

Cons

I'm going to be honest. The way that Unilever treated me and my colleagues in Connecticut from 2020 - 2021 was nothing short of shameful. During the greatest public health crisis of our time, Unilever decided to move forward with a mass layoffs of dedicated employees (some of whom had given decades of their lives). We were scared, confused, and casually outsourced. All the while, (then) Leadership kept moving the goal-posts and end dates. Some of us are STILL recovering financially and professionally to this day.

Rampant and Poor Mismanagement

Pros

They have good benefits and you start with 3 weeks vacation

Cons

Condescending and poor management seems to thrive at the company. HR is exactly what everyone says it is; HR is there to protect the company not the employee. My manager had over 15 people leave within 2 years under his lack of leadership with complaints to HR and he still has a job. Nepotism also is present where only select people will succeed. HR is also terrible and does not care about the lower level employee despite the anti retaliation and harassment policies. The company’s goal is to make any product they get cheaper and hope the consumer doesn’t notice the difference. There are no new innovative products, just watered down products from companies they have bought. Also the blatant discrimination against the covid unvaccinated was driven by their failed glaxo smith deal which eventually was removed. People are promoted based off of their physical characteristics not the merits of their work.

Pros

Flexible work hours, hybrid model, free ice cream bars

Cons

Poor people managers, micro management to an extreme (screenshooting past direct messages, dictating emails and email language, not permitted to travel when necessary due to managers fear to ask for approval), no people manager training, mixed messaging regarding hybrid work policy, lack of support from upper management regarding career transitions into new roles
