Pros

If there are any left, they are few and far between. If you find some, expect to get screwed out of them soon enough.

Cons

PSR - It's not precision, it's not scheduled, and it's surely not railroading. Korn Ferry Hay - the government should look into how these companies are utilized. "Here's the staffing number we want to get to. Please report back with that result so UP can say we didn't make the decision, that consulting firm did!" Demotions + lies about future raise & bonus won't be affected. Demotions & cuts part deux 2023 "Carloads are down" -- no .. the last few years have been pretty steady around 160,000 7 day carloads. Pay is not good any more. Inflation is growing at a far, far greater rate than salaries. Health benefits - constant erosion of benefits. Expect to work for leadership that not only doesn't know what you do, but doesn't understand it. They don't support you and surely do not fight the demotion-happy regime we have today. Loyalty is DEAD, and UP killed it. Do not expect loyalty or the best from your employees when you clearly are not willing to reciprocate. Now you have to undo all the damage you've done over the past six years before anyone would even consider giving you CPR if you were lying in the street. We used to be on the Fritz, now we're just being bitten and injected with VenaM (get it .. Venom).

Pros

Salary, benefits, retirement. Most people are great to work with.

Cons

High stress. Shareholders are valued FAR above employees. Cutbacks mean more work for fewer people, and there was already more work than could ever humanly be accomplished.

Pros

It used to be a good place to work. It has an amazing franchise, just a terrible culture and executive team.

Cons

It really is the worst. They actively treat employees poorly to encourage people to leave without having to pay a severance. They are working hard to eliminate you from the company.
