Pros

Good paychecks sometimes. Recommend this job to single individuals.

Cons

No steady work. 5 months training then furloughed. Worked for 2 months then Furloughed again. Have only worked 2 months in 2015...It's already past mid October and nothing...

Pros

Good salary. That's about it. I can't even think of 20 words to describe positives to working at UP

Cons

UP knows they can get away with a lot. They will retaliate against whistle blowers, and intimidate them into silence. They do not respect the Americans with Disabilities Act because it costs them money. If you aren't a person of a visible minority (Hispanic, Asian, African/African-American, a woman, etc) you are a second class employee. They say they like vets, but that's because they know vets are already trained and beaten into submission to accept orders and not question things. Anything that happens is your fault. You could be struck by lightning on a clear day and UP would find a way to blame you. While this all may sound like hyperbole, it really isn't.
