Pros

Good check, benefits, Maybe retirement if you make it..LOL, Get assigned a good yard or terminal and a good MTO or MOP that Pro-safety and only cares that the work get done safe and efficiently and the "goons" at the regional hub office stays off his tail.

Cons

The place can suck at times. sitting breathing dirty cancer causing exhaust and listening to some cry baby old head all sleepy and whining about the way it sucks all the time. Hours can suck. Bid on a local hauler with sit hours and had a lot of whoo time with the pornstar girlfriends. can't drink a lot off work and do any good dope anymore. Just eat sleep and breath UPRR. Two things next to my bed, The UPRR GCOR and the Holy bible and My job insurance and UTU chairman's number. Can be a firing and dismissal job. Load up on UTU job insurance and job protection. Unions have gotten pussed out. In bed with Labor Relations , alternative life styles on the RR is in. Sex change benefits if you are into that. Contact the bridge club UP's LGBT officers for info.

Pros

Good pay, good safety record, travel through beautiful country, incredible benefits, railroad retirement will be worth all the hard stuff, good co-workers

Cons

2 hour notice to work, completely takes over your life, you can never be away from your phone and if you miss the call to work, you could be suspended. They mess with your life, bumping you to different cities and furloughing you over and over again.
