Pros

-Largest equipment rental provider in the world -PTO -401K -Company vehicle (depending on position) -Uncapped commissions

Cons

United Rentals has the same pros and cons as most big companies do, and thus suffers from many of the same problems. You’re simply a number to UR. You basically mean nothing. With 15,000+ employees, they have no time or program for actually developing or investing in people. You will get little to no direction and will still be held accountable to those expectations. UR is also very much a “good old boys club.” Promotions occur based on who you know, and generally not what you know or how good you are at your job. Not to mention to “club” aids in protecting horrible employees. I know specifically of a leader within this company that has multiple terminable offenses, but because of the relationship with a “higher up” this employee continues to be shielded. If you are an OSR, there is a good chance that most of your sales goals are completely arbitrary. They make up sales quota numbers. There’s no MoM or YoY analysis - they basically create a blanket goal for everyone, despite what your market size/penetration/etc. might be. My experience was not a good one, and I would suggest you to keep looking elsewhere if you’re really considering a job at UR.

Pros

Great amount of fleet to rent from. Company is very employee-centric and safest company in the industry. They've created a very balanced work/life balance.

Cons

The pay structure can be improved but it's adequate. The benefits are a bit pricey for upper tier insurance.
