Pros

Decent benefits Decent pay Decent perks Overall not a bad place to start a career but wouldn't recommend finishing one there. I've been looking for a door for years. I got stuck when I was younger. I recommend coming in learning the trade and moving on.

Cons

No work life balance to speak of. Used to have to work Saturdays but not anymore (although a few stores are still open then). Pay is okay but not great. Long hours sometimes. Getting to work at 6 and leaving at 6-7 is not a good way to keep happy employees.

Pros

It tells a lot about a company when the senior leadership has worked their way up through the ranks. CEO Michael Kneeland built his entire career in the rental business--working on the front lines in sales and operations before he eventually made his way to the top job. UR promotes from within and rewards their people for strong performance. If you work hard, have good sales skills, embrace technology, collaborate well with others, and put the customers first, you will have a great career with UR. I particularly like how they go out of their way to hire veterans, women, and minorities.

Cons

It's a big corporation now, so it comes with some of the corporate bureaucracy and inefficiency that all big companies have. But compared to other similarly sized companies, UR is better than most when it comes to corporate BS. Sometimes management can be a little too conservative and we lose opportunities to competitors that should have been ours.
