Pros

The people you work with on a day to day basis are by and by excellent co-workers, and mostly friendly people. Throughout the majority of my stint doing a few different jobs at a couple of different locations it was one of the main consistencies I saw. The work is also fast paced, which to some may be a negative, but for me it was just fast paced enough to make the day go by quick, but not to work you like a dog (although there were certainly days where it felt like it, nature of the beast though). And this is case by case, but my branch managers (read: direct managers) were fantastic. They generally came from the ground up, and understood what it took to run a branch, while also working with people through any difficulties or changes. All of my direct managers understood that things happen and often times you just need a day, or maybe even a week away. Imagine this depends on the branch, but I saw it multiple times. They were also honest and fair about how to improve if there were any needed.

Cons

The largest issue is the micro-management. Where as I once felt like I had a say in day-to-day branch operations, by the end of it I was worried I was going to get my hand slapped for saying yes or no to any request that came through. It creates a toxic work environment and didn't lend itself well to morale or company culture. Keep in mind, this micro-management was NOT coming branch level managers, but from upper management aka district level management. It took every bit of fun out of the job. Pay is also a huge issue. The raises are miniscule, are definitely not consistent with inflation, and they will flatly hire someone on with less skill than you and pay them 2.50 more. I know this, because it happened to me. It's a part of what led me to my new job. That leads into the long days. I know for some M-F, 7-5 is not bad, but it's not for me. Too many times an issue comes up and you're expected to come in early, go in on a Saturday or stay way later than originally intended. Absolutely no work-life balance. There's also not much diversity, so if that's what you want or look for in a company, you are not going to get it here.
