Pros

I have been with Unitrends for a while now. I was here during the explosive growth in 2013 and 2014; I was also here in 2015 during the over expansion and eventual right sizing of the organization; and I’m here now watching the growth return. Unitrends offers a disaster recovery and business continuity platform that is well positioned in the competitive, but quickly growing market of cloud backup and DR. Employees who strive to exceed expectations, recognize change is part of a growing organization, and actively improve their understanding of the product/market will be truly successful. I can’t speak for the rest of the organization, but the vast majority of the sales floor is making more money than they ever have before. Plans are attainable, above industry average, and include aggressive accelerators once you have hit your quota. I think the large numbers of new home owners, newlyweds, and new parents says a lot about how current employees feel about Unitrends. It’s a great indicator that we feel secure in our jobs and strong financially. Life hasn’t been prefect at Unitrends, but I can say that it has significantly changed my life for the better. I know I’m not the only one and I know that I won’t be the last.

Cons

Sales is a lifestyle. You need to be able to handle the down months and the stressful calls. You also need to understand that Unitrends is in a growth stage which means change: changing territories, changing managers, changing leadership, changing product… If you want to come in every day, do the same thing, and the head home at 5:00 this isn’t the environment for you.

Pros

Unitrends has a good problem-space in which to work, and enough challenges to keep things interesting. The company has a great strategic model with a lot of future potential; visionary leadership with ambitious goals; training and development opportunity. Leadership is always watching trends to ensure that Unitrends stays relevant and aligned with customers needs. Vision of the company is exciting and enabling. Unitrends has recently hired talented people who are smart enough to push you and challenge you, but also fun to work with. The benefits and work/life balance are fantastic especially the paid-time off program, 401K match and insurance coverage's with medical, life, dental, vision, disability and cancer.

Cons

Changes and lack of communication can make people a little frustrated. Communicate more and replace management who can't handle the job.

Pros

Unitrends has decent technology and a substantial customer base to sell more to, and expand from - not a fly-by-night, 1-trick pony. Acquisitions and the original corporate strategy for 2014 set Unitrends on a decent path to be unique provider in the market place (cloud, virtual, aaS, not just appliance backup). Some of the exec team are really good - empowering the teams below them, and encouraging them to stand up and have an opinion, to think outside the box, and focus on the best way forward for Unitrends.

Cons

The rest of the exec team (which unfortunately is most of it), have spent years encouraging the entire company to not plan, jump at a passing thought, or not have faith in their own beliefs and prior experiences. A few people made reference to a frat house, and new hires coming from a single company - both absolutely true - stifling.
