Pros

It's a stable company and they do nice things for you like Customer Appreciation Week...they supply lunch and/or breakfast several times a year...cook outs, potlucks, etc. Have received nice gifts: backpack, fleece jacket, insulated coffee cup...thoughtful gifts. Able to work remotely 3 days/week is huge help and a money saver!

Cons

Constant turnover, due to sub-par training and constant changes in supervisors and accounts...be prepared to fumble your way thru and ask questions or use resources that are available to you to teach yourself. Some groups have better leads (assistants) than others, so some people excel while others flounder. A co-worker asked a supervisor for help the other day and was told, "do the best you can." They were expecting HELP...they were already doing their best. Pretty frustrating. Promotion of people who don't seem qualified (very young/not a lot of experience) just because they're friends with the right people.

We agree being a Customer Account Partner is not an easy job, and it takes time to learn. The success of each CAP is very important to us; we have a very structured training program which includes learning in a classroom setting for the first two weeks on the job. Afterwards, CAPs are partnered with a mentor and spend several weeks shadowing to learn the business before being assigned a portfolio. We pride ourselves in watching CAPs develop and advance into many other areas of the company. We want each CAP to feel supported from our Training team, Supervisors, Managers and Leads. Pros

The salary was competitive. Recent bonuses were decent.

Cons

Burn em and churn em! Not an employee friendly workplace. Overworked beyond belief with very little thanks; crazy hours (around the year) under extreme (manipulative) micromanagement with limited flexibility. They tout an "unlimited" vacation policy for the salaried workforce, (but don't plan on taking much time off - it's frowned upon, and many times not approved). Culture is awful and turnover is high, leaving those left standing in the lurch to pick up the pieces and figure things out under immense pressure to do more, more, more with less each year. Do your career, your family and your sanity a favor and do not waste a moment considering Univar Solutions as a place to work (let alone develop your career). Also, if you leave before 3 years, they recoup a large portion of the match on retirement. Thank you very little.

In fact, this year, we received record-breaking response rates and overall job satisfaction expressed by our very own employees within the annual engagement survey! We also take pride in being a place Where the Best People Want to Work. Similarly, we take feedback seriously and value work-life harmony. As such, we were able to expand our Works for Me program, with a flexible hybrid work schedule and launch of no meetings on Friday afternoons, and provide very generous time off to rest and recharge. Finally, no employee 401k match is taken away, but the annual retirement contribution made by the Company does require a three-year vest, as is communicated during onboarding in our benefits package. The company has a competitive advantage in several key areas ... Warehouse network, logistics & key strategic vendors.

Cons

Univar Solutions has an impressive list of Corporate Values but they have difficultly living these values. They also have difficulty implementing change management initiatives.
