Pros

Benefits are good. Staff "on the ground" are wonderful, hard-working folks who are trying to make a difference.

Cons

Staff to Client Ratio makes it very difficult to carefully supervise our patients. I consider it to pose a potential risk to patients. In addition, the salaries are low compared to competitors in our area, and it is very difficult to hire and retain staff. Finally, there is a lack of accountability when a mistake is made at a Director level. Incompetencies are overlooked, even when it costs business. Staff training is unpredictable and unfocused.

Pros

The corporate office is newly renovated and its hospitals are on the cutting edge of the industry. Quarterly meetings are held to update the staff on what's going on within the company.

Cons

Not that it is like this within every department, but in the department in which I worked people felt that they were treated like children. Going by the motto of do as I say not what I do. You are not given the room to grow or direction of how to do so.

Pros

Good pay and benefits, and the opportunity to work with some of the most challenging behavioral disorders in children and adolescents. Opportunities for supervision, collaboration, and on site clinical training from a leader in the field.

Cons

Taking time off even for continued education credits was frowned upon and discouraged. Lack of therapeutic office space with little privacy, poor ventilation, noisy units. No electronic medical records. At weekly team meetings, little to no discussion of clinical issues. High turnover rate; high complaint rate from residents. Orientation for new therapists lacked relevance; it suited behavioral staff more. Must go in for family therapy on Saturdays and Sundays.
