Pros
You get to work interesting cases and learn a lot. Patients are driven/flown in from other hospitals and cities for our care. Doctors are physically present 24/7. Doctors and nurses work well together.
Cons
Hours were cut if census was low (which is often in pediatrics) and you you get paid with your own PTO hours after THEY tell you not to come in. After sleeping all day preparing for night shift, you’d get a text an hour and a half before your shift starts telling you to not come in. They were cancelling shifts every single day to where it was my turn to get cancelled every other week.
