Pros

Great work-life balance Smart, dedicated and passionate teams A mission that makes sense and can stand behind Competitive pay Ability to work fully remotely I very much enjoyed my time working at Upstart

Cons

Outside of having gone through a company layoff (which is common place across many companies throughout the industry right now), I don't have really any cons working at Upstart.

Pros

Smart and helpful colleagues. Work from home options with budget to support home office needs.

Cons

Unless you’re a VP or above, you have no control, authority or autonomy. Managers don’t have input into what their new hires will be offered, nor what team members will receive for merit increases or bonuses. Middle managers also have no budget authority. Top down controls and management styles might makes sense if the company was a growing start up, but not for a public company with more than 1k employees. How will this company ever prepare the next generation of leaders if they don’t let them lead?
