Working for the Utah Transit Authority (U.T.A.) is without a doubt the best job I've ever had in my entire 61 year life.
Pros
U.T.A. is a positive and success orientated company. Every employee is valued and treated with respect and dignity. I have never worked with a company so bent on taking as good care of their employees as U.T.A. does. I could go on an on about the atmosphere created at U.T.A., and the thousands of positive minded employees that work here but you would be reading a novel. So I will stick to the most important benefits. Here at U.T.A., we are like a family and everyone wants to see their fellow employees succeed. U.T.A. provides a lot of activities for it's employees, from the running/bicycling and weight lifting stocked gear in all their fitness rooms to the numerous get together's for holidays. The training department ensures that all employees stay up to date on policies and give every opportunity for employee's to learn the safest way to do things. We are taught to treat everyone as an equal and you can see by the diversity of the people who work for U.T.A. that they stand by their credo of fair employment. I personally love working for U.T.A. for all these reasons, but the best reason is the camaraderie I feel with so many of the employees. The pay's good, the benefits are comparable to some of the best benefits a company could offer, but the best reason to stay with U.T.A. is for the friendship and camaraderie which is nurtured and cultured by all the employee's including the upper management.
Cons
The only con I can think of is that the schedule for bus drivers is tough at times, but the benefits of working for a company like U.T.A. more than make up for any inconvenience a person might encounter with the schedule of work.
