Thank you for sharing this perspective. We understand comments like this often come from a place of concern for pets and the teams who care for them. At VCA, providing world‑class medicine is central, which is why we consistently invest in advanced medical tools, continuing education, and specialty‑level support across our hospitals to ensure our Associates can deliver the highest standard of care. We are committed to supporting both pets and the people who care for them, and we welcome the opportunity to hear more about your experience at EmployeeConcerns@vca.com.

Pros

You get to work with animals.

Cons

It’s been mentioned before, but the pay is far below the level of commitment required. Work/life balance was nonexistent. I was asked/made to work almost every holiday and was often asked to come in on days off. The sheer volume of work is not reflected in your paycheck. Doctors and Techs are extremely disrespectful towards front desk even though front desk is already taking the majority of the abuse from clients. However, they value the doctors and techs more and will not help you resolve these issues. They also don’t appreciate or reward loyalty. I worked for them for over a decade and made $20 an hour at the most. I never felt appreciated or safe working for VCA.
