Didn't enjoy the acquisition of our practice by VCA

Pros

Large corporation provided benefits package that is not often available to private practice veterinarians.

Cons

Antiquated computer systems. Sole metric we were judged on was revenue generated. Viewed doctors in the practice as warm bodies - if one left, just plug in another.

Pros

Local offices are good, and Ver care is very good.

Cons

Pricing structure for clients is set given the surrounding community's average income. If the clinic happens to be in an affluent area, the price tier will be high. VCA is big business, and some of their practices and policies reflect this.
