Pros

Company supports medical excellence Good referral support/specialist advice at any time for vets

Cons

Base salary plus production is nearly impossible if in a slow hospital Contracts are standard and have terrible non-compete clauses If not meeting production your negative balance ACCRUES! You will NEVER dig yourself out. Poor managers in many hospitals - not spending money on inventory that sells, but will purchase useless things. Managers often lack management skills and business sense. Most vets overworked and have poor work/life balance Poor pay to excellent employees/staff. Poor staffing Does not understand how to utilize staff instead of just hiring more veterinarians to fight over production Production pay creates workplace tension/competition/stress VCA has become a money-hungry giant corporation that has forgotten about the veterinarians and technicians they employ.

Pros

Great people work here and I have lots of relationships within the ranks however management for the most part will just walk by you like you dont exist. The CEO is friendly and very down to earth and willing to listen if you have a question or idea.

Cons

no praise for the hard work that everyone does. not only in the department i work in however in all departments and many of the departments are just trying to get things done without the manpower needed! so many hi end IT managers have been brought on-board and some of the other managers in other departments are not qualified for the positions they are in.. Benefits manager is the first and AP manager would be the next!

Pros

willing to train, can get overtime, working with animals, education/training is good, employee discount is great, some doctors are great to work with,

Cons

hospital manager and director don't care about their employees, no respect, like to treat employees and talk to them like they're stupid, supervisor allowed to walk all over employees, way too much negative feedback and knit-picking, prices are too high, waste some employees talents supervisors lack supervisory skills, they create anomosity amongst coworkers, promote employees tattling on each other instead of supervisors doing their jobs right, director has no guts
