Employee discounts, health insurance (although expensive), flexible schedules

Cons

Open long hours and can't turn away walk ins right at closing time. Management and Medical Directors only care about revenue, and not about employee concerns or suggestions. Healthcare benefits suck and are too expensive. Employees are not praised or rewarded when they work long hours and stay past closing. Did I mention corporations SUCK??!!??

Pros

Benefit package is in line with other vet clinics. Decreased cost on meds, services etc. Normally pretty good at letting you get time off.

Cons

No respect for the individual, typical corporate uncaring attitude. So focused on growth and acquiring new clinics. Not enough time transitioning the personnel. Managers and Medical directors are not held to the same standards as associates. Very much focused on the bottom line, making us question whether that truly is quality medicine. Have seen several people fired without just cause, i.e. NO job security. Just poor management all around. Would not recommend working at VCA unless you really had no other options.
