Pros

Free parking is all I can come up with

Cons

I was hired as a new grad and was rotated between 3 preceptors. 2 of them could have cared less about teaching and really made it apparent they were chosen simply because the particular day I was working they had the majority of experience. My primary preceptor had been fired from Inova for narcotic diversion (great choice!). The hospital has ZERO personality and ppl walk around like zombies. I could only stand it for a little over a month and left to a nearby hospital in DC where I was offered $32 and given a preceptor who genuinely cared about teaching me. Any new grads who are thinking of working here save your time and energy and apply somewhere else.

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. I am disappointed to hear that you did not feel supported as a new graduate nurse. At VHC, we pride ourselves on being a top teaching hospital, and have consistently been named as such by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization. Would you kindly reach out to me at VHCexperience@virginiahospitalcenter.com to discuss this in greater detail? -- Grace Greenan, AVP, People and Experience.

Pros

The people who work there. Very Friendly

Cons

Such a long list of unsatisfactory things All they care about is looking good. They pile work on you and give you a 3% percent raise. No one is ever eligible for 5% unless you are a director of some sort.

Thank you for your commitment to Virginia Hospital Center as a long-time employee, and for taking the time to leave feedback on your workplace experience. I’m pleased to hear that you enjoy your coworkers and overall working environment. We are proud of the reputation and many recognitions our Health System has received, and equally proud of the team we have in place that has helped us achieve that. We know that the quality of our patient care is a direct reflection of the quality of our team. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you further about your personal experience and what we can do to support that. Please feel free to email me directly at MDickersonCNO@virginiahospitalcenter.com to set up a time to chat. Thank you again for your feedback and I’m looking forward to working towards a solution to your concerns. -- Melody Dickerson, Senior Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer

Pros

Enjoyed the people and teamwork. Competitive salary. Decent benefits.

Cons

Would force staff to work short with unsafe patient ratios. Float pool often non-existent.
