Wish I could say it was a great place....

Pros

Healthcare- covered for everything in hospital! The only benefit

Cons

Discriminatory administrators, inexperienced staff. worked there for 11 years and complained about the manager, nothing was done. New hires were fresh out of school, did their 2 years for experience then left. No retention was ever needed they thought. Revolving door of employees. So many times we had "meetings" from the higher ups about our unit, eventually did not want to speak because the manager would retaliate. Also, employee parking was ridiculous!! If you ever wanted to get your car out of employee parking in the middle of the day, it would take an hour to move all the other cars to get yours!

Thank you for sharing your experience here at VHC. I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying the quality of our team and the level of care we strive to provide our patients! Can we chat about your concerns about staffing? As you are aware, the recruitment and retention of incredible nurses is a challenge across the healthcare industry at the moment. We've placed a heavy emphasis on finding and keeping the best of the best and I'm excited about what we've been able to do for our nurses already here. If you are open to speaking in greater detail with me about your concerns, I can be reached directly at MDickersonCNO@virginiahospitalcenter.com at any time. Thank you for your commitment to VHC and our patients! -- Melody Dickerson, Senior Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer

Pros

Great benefits, Great pay AND that's about it! Culture is Terrible within the physician group.

Cons

Must be willing to kiss up to physicians, most days I felt like instead of coming to a professional work environment...I was coming to HIGH SCHOOL! If you want to come to work, do your job and leave and not join the "it crowd"...you will be picked on. Managers only promote ppl who kiss up to them, not on ability to perform your job duties.
