Pros

The only pro i can think of with this company is the rate of pay(if not considering the work load) and the health benefits

Cons

you first think they you are being paid well until you start working here and realize how much your work load is.They don't respect their employees and aren't transparent with their expectations. They barely train you but expect you to know everything and if you don't perform up to their expectations they will either extend your probationary period or let you go.HR only looks out for the company and the doctors. The only advice i can give is to stay far away from this place.there is a reason why they have a high turn over rate.it's a joke

Pros

The hospital is well respected in the community. The medical care good. Salary and benefits good.

Cons

Case management leadership has no respect for staff. Overworked staff with chronic department shortages due to militaristic approach of leadership. Expect a minimum of 9~10 hour days. Inflexibility of department to allow time off as inadequate staffing. Suggestions for departmental improvement falls on deaf ears. Staff assignments not equally distributed.

Pros

Magnet facility, parking on site, (mostly) self scheduling & awesome coworkers. The benefits are quite costly, but very good.

Cons

It is impossible to afford to live here as a nurse at VHC. You need a sugar daddy or a slew of roommates! I have RN friends in other states who made $10-$12/hour more as new grads at their hospitals from 2008-2016. Starting a nurse out at $26.10/hour in the metro DC area is just cruel punishment. The nurses here who aren’t married off and/or living far away in cheaper suburbs will be forced to move away just to be able to survive. Terrible food options. Oh - when we actually have time to take a break. Sulfur smell (always!!) on ground floor of B/C.
