Pros

the patients and ONLY the patients

Cons

Pts and families come first yea right! not any more--money comes first. The Naples office wont even give geri sleeves anymore to pts.(only one example). They'd rather let pts get skin tears and possible infections and pay hundreds of dollars on the back end vs. a few bucks up front. We take care of each other--only if you go with the in crowd and cheat the company out out of money. Yea you heard me right. I guess its just easier to enter 040 office administrative time when you are out of the office vs. entering your PTO. Its a shame Vitas used to be such a wonderful company to work for until the takeover/buyout.. Now employees don't even get raises--yea its been over three years now for raises. Pretty pathetic for such a large company. They care nothing about their patients or employees! You can't keep screwing the little people for ever! That wont get you anywhere in the long run.

Pros

Senior Management is very focused on patient care, they trust clinical staff to do what they do best and what they love to do. Sacramento Vitas is really good at keeping to their first value 'Patients and Families Come First'. Senior management and HR care about the employees ensuring they get the training and tools they need to care for patients.

Cons

Employees of VITAS are not valued at the corporate level - management in Sacramento and at other VITAS locations are limited in what they can do - the pay is way below market standard for all positions and pay freezes (for 2 years now) make it difficult for employees to make ends meet. Benefits have been cut each year for the last 5 years. There is very limited opportunity for growth and zero work life balance. High expectations without a high return.
