      Worst IT shop anywhere

      Pros

      Nice campus, stock is stable, products are well known

      Cons

      Very poor (across the board) IT senior management team. The most political environment anywhere. Long hours are the norm. It's a sweatshop. Everything is an emergency, complete lack of planning and structure. IT culture is poor, everyone is afraid to speak up. Without a doubt, staff would leave if not for RSUs. Would rank at less than one star if the option was there.

      Pros

      Awesome technology Senior level management are at the top of their game Arguably the Smartest CEO in the industry Great people in the trenches Most people are willing to go out of their way to help. Training and enablement is readily available.

      Cons

      Cronyism and nepotism runs rampant Opportunities to advance your career are limited Some account managers are absolutely clueless when it comes to the concept of "solution selling" Mid-level management leaves a lot to be desired. Changing comp plans are making it more difficult to make money. Post-sales is not respected by the pre-sales organization. Too EMC re-treads have brought the baggage to VMware; everyone knows EMC culture and unhappy employees are synonymous
