The very best health plan offered at VMware is the Aetna with a pre-paid Health Equity account. Having a family with kids that play sports, we end up at the ER often in addition to the typical Dr visits. Aetna covers about 30-50% of claims. In addition to the low coverage, it is very administrative to login to the Health Equity website and match the claims (which is a mystery as the $ amounts don't match) and then fund them with your equity account. It is also very unclear which is which. I was told that moving away from the HMO was voted on by employees. I was never presented with a voting option. It would be great if VMware could bring back an HMO as an option for employees. Upon inquiring about this I was told that VMware cannot absorb the costs of an HMO. Hoping this changes.
