      Pros

      Great products - great to be in the leading edge of technology Good co-workers - Many fine people working hard

      Cons

      Employees as commodities, no regard for skill or morale Squeezing employees for money for acquisitions Keeping inconsequential rewards, like beer bash and withholding promotions and raises Contributing to the bad economy by laying off local people to hire in cheaper (foreign) locations; its bad for America Lip service only to valuing employees

      Pros

      salary and benefits on par with industry. very knowledgeable and capable core employees (most might have already left as of now).

      Cons

      notorious in-crowd culture--either you're in, or you're out. rampant POLITICS throughout the company which seem to be driven mostly by middle management who prefers to place their employees in silos as a way to sever communication and collaborative efforts amongst teams. daily gossips and back-stabbing is not uncommon.

      Pros

      VMware is the best place I have ever worked. Of course there are always things you could complain about, but ultimately, VMware pays its employees well, treats everybody with respect, and encourages employees to develop themselves. The company goes out of its way to do nice things for its employees. i'm going to miss VMware and all of the people here once Broadcom destroys the culture and lays off 90% of us.

      Cons

      It's easy to get pigeonholed into a job here, but the company will continue to promote and incentivize you financially to stick with it. There are a lot of tenured directors and senior directors that are in over their heads. Good people, but are not qualified for director level jobs other than having worked their way up at VMware.
