      Lots of cliques and infighting. All the liabilities of a start up and an established company.

      Pros

      flexible hours average pay average benefits some ability to move between groups - assuming you can network the move ahead of time still looks good on a resume

      Cons

      vision is gone penny pinching has set in one hour of discussions required per minute of actual work accomplished rules by Excel spreadsheets that govern each fiefdom no reward for loyalty - the longer you stay the more likely you'll wind up on the purge list no training unless its on your own time

      Pros

      Good pay. Good benefits. The culture is fantastic, but that varies greatly from team to team. Overall it was good until management shifted and started doing a bunch of ridiculous reorganizations.

      Cons

      New management doesn't know or care what customers want. The process is full of cruft. Teams aren't rewarded for exceeding targets, instead they're chastised regularly by executive leadership.

      Pros

      Very good pay and benefits There are still some very smart and nice people (but they are in decline) Nice campus and physical work environment

      Cons

      Very heavyweight and dysfunctional release management process. Very slow moving. Takes enormous engineering effort each year to put out a vSphere product release, while not moving the needle very much. Toxic politics and a fair amount of silo-ing and back-stabbing. Overall a very harsh engineering culture where different silos tear and grind at each other rather than unify and collaborate. Company pays lots of lip service to meritocracy and accountability, but what happen daily is just the opposite. Toxic and incompetent people are allowed to be around for years, wrecking havoc on the engineering organization. Product quality seems to be getting worse each year.
