Pros
VT is a fairly progressive company which strives to be the number one commercial door manufacturer in the nation. They work hard at continuous improvement and keeping employees safe and prepared. They care about the local community and it's nice to see that sort of mentality within a company such as VT. They provide a decent benefits package which certainly benefits employees and their families. It is definitely an asset to the area and their continuous improvement and expansion bodes well for the future, hopefully.
Cons
The machinery within the plant is ancient. They jerry-rig safety devices to machines that are decades old and honestly it's sad. A lot of employees are very hard workers and are positive to be around, but a lot are incredibly lazy and know they can get away with it; the management is well aware. It's terrible for morale and a lot of the management lets it happen because they, apparently, fear confrontation. It seems they have a fairly high turnover rate, so I suppose they also fear having to replace the weak links. The pay is nothing to be proud of, and is basically enough to pay bills and perhaps take you out to a movie on the weekends. If you don't have a spouse helping with the bills it'd be tough to get by. Don't work here expecting a career, it's a job.
