Pros

Great opportunity to get foot in the door with State. Work from home.

Cons

No career pathing to get you perm or a permanent position anywhere. Low wages. Promotion on a project is based on friendship not performance. They don't care about employee concerns even when related to manager inability to lead. After a year on a project no discussion of pay increase, potential permanent position, promotion, performance review, manager assigned did not allow you to have direct communication with the employer nor vaco management based on concerns. Individuals with little experience were utilized although their performance was substandard after being on the assignment 2 months , but they showed no threat to the assigned manager and her lack of ability to lead.

Pros

Lots of autonomy and flexibility Comp can be really, really good if you are able to get in with the right people/ accounts

Cons

Toxic culture (sexism is RAMPANT and it's a "family" until you say anything to challenge leadership ) New opportunities are not based on anything but how long you have been there and how big your ego is and if you are male or female. Leaders only care about the bottom line and getting the biggest pay out in the next PE transaction

Pros

Select few peers were great (they are no longer working there).

Cons

Everyday I would walk in to a constant gossip session about peers, candidates, clients, etc. This is often encouraged. If upper management likes you, then you are set. Otherwise stay out of their way. This is a culture that has no qualms about inappropriate candor or harassment of any nature. The Managing Partners are there to override and cut out the lesser experienced from the deal. There is no support in growth or further opportunities. Great starting place for recruiters if they don't mind the toxic culture. There is always an underlying current of judgement. Most there act like it's a frat house. Throwing snacks and themed parties at the employees does not make up for the toxicity in this office. During my time here - 7 people left before and after my employment with Vaco. All due to CULTURE and LEADERSHIP. No WFH opportunities except for Senior Management. You never know how truly a toxic a culture is until you leave it...
