Pros

If you get a great manager, I haven't worked at a better place.

Cons

If your manager changes, or you decide to take an opportunity in another department and get a poor manager, your entire career is put on hold until you can get a better manager. And the ration is about 50/50 on good / poor managers.

Pros

I started there because they have tuition reimbursement. Not a bad place to start, people are impressed when they hear I work there. The company has a great reputation, I tell them it's a great place to invest and just smile.

Cons

Low level management is very sporadic, I've had good and bad supervisors. The promotion ladder is very frustrating, I've had several hiring managers change their minds about the job description after my first interview. It makes me wonder what the job would be like if I got it...Would they change the job description after they hire someone or it just a way to NOT HIRE certain people.

Decent company, but it's not what it used to be.

Pros

They still have decent benefits, but you definitely pay more for them than you used to. Overall, their training program is pretty good. Conservative, stable company that has never had layoffs. Plenty of sports leagues to play in to meet fellow employees. Very charitable, big into corporate responsibility.

Cons

Work/life balance is definitely not a concern. Salaries are way lower than most others in the industry. There is definitely a "kool-aid" culture that you'd better buy into if you hope to advance. Team leaders are not held accountable in the same fashion as their direct reports. They overhauled their compensation program according to "employee wishes", but none of the employees were happy about it because it decreased the amount made per year through their partnership (profit sharing) program. Some departments lack uniformity of standards from team to team, which can make it tough to fully understand performance expectations.
