Pros

Vanguard had a lot of benefits and now that I am in another company the benefits were not that bad (except for salary and health). Other companies have only 2 weeks of vacation and charge even more for health benefits. There are a lot of opportunities to grow professionally through Vanguard, by taking Vanguard coursework or even get involved.

Cons

the vanguard culture is that everyone is "nice' to each other, however there are times when employees are not respected and earn what they deserve.

Pros

Vanguard invests heavily in employee development - they provide extensive training and encourage employees to invest in themselves through higher education reimbursement programs. In addition, there are a myriad of different job opportunities since it is such a large organization - even opportunity to transfer to another site.

Cons

Efficiency is certainly not a strong suit at Vanguard - in addition, the pay ranges are markedly low compared to competitors. It can be quite frustrating to work very hard and not see a big difference between your own salary and someone who works half as hard. There is a lot of "dead weight" holding the company back.
