Didn't Appreciate what I had until I was gone

Pros

As you get older, you appreciate the 'total compensation' package even more. The health benefits are steller as is the PTO and retirement. I have not seen a company even compare. No mass layoffs

Cons

Some Depts are great, some aren't. It all depends on the dept that you are in. If you are not in a dept that you enjoy, then post out to another one. A bad dept is not a reflection on the company as a whole.

Pros

Lots of PTO, decent benefits, 401k matching. Great if you’re looking for stability.

Cons

The company seems to be about 20 years behind and really caters to the older workforce. Many people have been in the same individual contributor jobs for 10+ years. It’s very unmotivating trying to advance in your career while watching the lifers do the bare minimum to get by. I learned a lot of soft skills but zero software specific skills that would help me outside of the company. A lot of new focus and time spent on “new ways of working,” when all that’s really needed is better pay, remote work programs, and meaningful incentives. Too many levels of leaders- especially people who are not qualified to be leaders. Promotions are determined by your ability to memorize perfect answers to star questions and recite them back. Vanguard is fine is you’re 40+ and want a steady career, but as a young person out of college, it was excruciatingly boring here. Don’t get trapped and find somewhere else that provides challenges and has learning opportunities for useful skills.

Pros

Insurance and PTO...and that’s about it

Cons

Seriously, stay away!!! -This company is nothing but toxic. When issues arise and bubbled up to direct leadership, it’s pushed under the rug like all the numerous amounts of issues this company experiences. -Everyone here is so cliquey and BEYOND PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE. Don’t even think just for one second that you have a friend here, they will turn around and talk about you behind your back. You will be so burnt out by the end esp if you’re placed on the phones. Mostly everyone is so miserable! -Had no idea what drinking the special kool aid actually meant till I worked at this place, and trust me, you will see it! -It’s sad when people are genuinely trying to get ahead in their careers and instead promotions are given to those that have absolutely no idea what they’re doing. -Completely unethical, if you’re a client lower than a flagship client, you don’t receive the same care as you would being flagship. That’s why half of these flagship representatives think they can run the place and talk to other departments the way the do and they get away with it
