Pros

building relationships with clients, many great coworkers

Cons

Valueless middle managers. I get 0 feedback from management on how to be a better advisor, but I get an earful of them nit-picking nonsense, fairy-tail metrics. Do you know how Medicare coordinates with employer health insurance - if so, you are not valued here - just get your aging client base to use archaic video "chats," there is no audio connection. I know, when you facetime, skype, or teams chat, you always set up a camera to watch each other and call the other party separately, right...right? CFPs with $400 million under management, making $120-150k, advisory fees totaling $1.2 million, where does the excess go - numerous layers of middle management bean counters stealing paychecks. If you are a new advisor, or if you can't swim on your own, this is a place where you can let your mediocrity shine. If you are technically proficient, good with people, and have any amount of drive, take your talent anywhere but here.

Pros

Used to be benefits but not anymore; awesome coworkers

Cons

Used to be proud to say I worked for Vanguard, can’t say that anymore. Under Mortimer the ship is quickly sinking. Mr. Bogle would be horrified at what has happened to his company. The ship logo, gone! The reward to crew for helping the company succeed, quickly wasting away by changes from upper management to only help line their pockets. The proudness people used to have for working at Vanguard, non existent. Benefits, what was once top benefits are now below average and getting worse each year. Mr. Bogle valued the crew that made the company what is was. Under new leadership EVERYTHING is being outsourced. Mail now goes through Texas, some processing is in India, phone reps in India and they told 1300 crew during the beginning of the pandemic they were sold off to Infosys under the premise of “it’s what’s best for vanguard and the clients. A new “robust” platform. It was just their way of getting rid of employees with tenure and cutting their bottom line. After 24 years I was told via a mass email my job would be transitioning to Infosys. NON EXISTENT LOYALTY!! Took away retiree medical plan which they touted as a great benefit for retirement then gave it back to current retirees only after a lot of bad press. Current regime does not value their employees. Pretty soon there will be no Vanguard left as it will all be outsourced either overseas or through “partner” companies. Not worth selling your soul for mediocre benefits and pay well below industry averages.

Pros

None, healthcare is changing. Pay is not worth it.

Cons

Computer issues daily send a repair ticket and get “into trouble” because you used the wrong aux to report the computer issues. This year over 15 tickets for major issues, such as computer screen flashing, soft phone or system crashes. If clients knew the out dated garbage we have to use they would give us some “at cost” money back to fit it. Now we are all sales, not service. I try to help a client by making them aware there is over an hour hold to get another department to help them, they no longer have an assigned rep to help them. December is now 40 hours and 30 min lunches that are no longer bringing in food ad no time to eat and run to the bathroom in 30 mins. If you are helping a client and it goes over your lunch you better document it, because it 5 months they will ask you why you went to lunch late and messed up your aux time. Limited career growth I know been here over 7 years and they treat senior staff like garbage. Promoting college grads to managers that have no “real work skills”. It is a joke! This year changed my role to sales and that is NOT an area I was ever interested in. Moving senior crew out, by testing them out if they don’t get their 66 license. No focus on clients services, it is on client sales. Managers have lied and no one gets a raise unless it is a new role, which you have to beg your manager for. Please don’t waste your time and energy, the boat is sinking.
