Pros

- Rapid company growth and exciting tech stack - Competitive pay and benefits - Work with some talented and great people

Cons

- Poor team camaraderie. If you meet or even exceed expectations you shouldn't expect praise/celebration. Morale seems to be constantly low here. - Lots of back-stabbing. Engineers stealing ideas/credit from each other, talking behind each others' backs, etc., especially the more "tenured" engineers. Notice how Vanta's values don't include anything about employee well-being or treating one another with decency and respect? - Leadership team is full of massive egos. This results in annoying politics that get in the way of objectives and make planning a nightmare. - Sky high expectations, low resources. Vanta's leadership seems to think they can win by putting the screws into the engineering teams. The result is a company that succeeds at the expense of its employees' mental health. As an engineer at this company you will often be working 60 or more hours a week and you will not be praised for it.

Pros

There is nothing positive about this company any more.

Cons

Senior Leadership team is evil. They care more about their LinkedIn influencer campaigns than about any of the people that work there. It has become a revolving door of reps, do yourself a favor and speak to people who’ve left because the only reason anyone applies is because of the smoke and mirror tactics they use online. This will be a detrimental career move. DON’T DO IT

Pros

Phenomenal people, interesting work, and (usually) challenging in a good way. Company is finally focusing on going deep & wide with its approach to improving the offering instead of just wide. Starting to feel more like a genuine security company rather than a customer acquisition company that happens to sell a security product on the side. And even at this stage of that transition its already a noticeably and significantly more robust offering than competitors. I may not agree with all decisions (who ever does?) but I do have faith backed by plenty of evidence that the Sr leaders making them are competent and capable which goes a long way to staying engaged.

Cons

Ive survived multiple internal restructures, 1-2 rounds of RIFs, multiple overnights, huge amounts of project and team thrash, and some absolutely bonkers deadlines and expectations for teams/people that are completely unprepared to meet them. The company is now old enough for The Peter Principle to be starting to show up. Its not horrible, and not in my BU, but I see it. Almost everything bad you have heard about hyper-growth VC backed bay are startups can be (or is) true at Vanta. Workload, office politics, high expectations with iffy rewards, inconsistent management, chasing shiny things, etc. The saving grace to that is that leadership knows and usually tries to address the issues proactively instead of ignoring them.
