Pay was decent. Getting surpassed by competition.

Burnout Factory

Pros

Most roles offer the flexibility to work remotely. The product is well-regarded in the market, and the company continues to grow. Healthcare benefits are solid and competitive. The environment is fast-paced, with an expectation to ramp up quickly and contribute from day one. While support may be limited, this creates an opportunity to learn rapidly and build skills in a short amount of time. This is a good fit for someone who thrives in a high-energy setting, though it may be challenging for those looking for a more gradual onboarding experience.

Cons

There are too many layers of management and not nearly enough support staff to actually get work done. Leadership is often ineffective and heavily focused on micromanaging rather than enabling teams to succeed. At the executive level, there’s a clear emphasis on public image over employee well-being or building a healthy company culture. The environment is chaotic and reactive—everything is treated like an emergency. Employees are routinely expected to perform work well above their role and pay grade, with little to no support. If you struggle under those conditions, the response is punitive rather than supportive. Turnover is extremely high, and leadership does not seem to address the root causes. The company sells the role as a great opportunity during the interview process, but the reality does not match—felt like a bait-and-switch. “Flexible PTO” is misleading in practice. Taking real time off is difficult without falling behind, and catching up often means working nights or weekends. Work-life balance is essentially nonexistent, with constant after-hours emails, Slack messages, and texts.

Pros

Good pay and benefits, decent work life balance

Cons

This place is incredibly dysfunctional. Every day feels draining. Toxic and rude coworkers, immature leadership, incompetent and ineffective management, inefficient processes... it's nearly impossible to get anything done without multiple layers of review and endless rounds of revisions. The bureaucracy is exhausting. Decisions are made in siloes and often walked back because they weren’t thought through properly to begin with. Information is shared selectively and you will often learn of things “through the grapevine”. Priorities, goals, metrics are nowhere to be found. There's little sense of culture and very little to no focus on employee experience, DEI, or anything beyond the bottom line. Many people come across as disengaged, transactional, and self-interested. Development opportunities are limited, and career and compensation growth are slow even for strong performers. Office politics are prevalent, employee concerns are rarely acted on, and meaningful feedback is rarely given or asked for. There is an overwhelming focus on AI, often without consideration of resource usage, output quality, or security implications, which is surprising given the industry. Usage is duplicative, disconnected, and directionless. I've honestly never felt less connected to my work. At some point, I found myself emotionally checking out just to preserve my own well-being.
