I've been working here for years, and this used to be a great place to work. It was fun, exciting, and it felt like somewhere you could grow. I've worn a few hats since I've been here, and this job has turned into a mindless, scripted, soul-sucking, suffocating, micro-managed, overworked role. Sales goals have been made absolutely impossible to attain, leaving you without your bonus, and the measly hourly pay. Metrics are observed under a microscope, and consultants are constantly hounded over every possible one. There is constant change to the sales process with blatant disregard to how it will affect anyone or anything but the bottom dollar, making this already challenging job, even more difficult, as you're expected to adapt and thrive with these constant changes, or get bullied and booted out. People are overworked, over time is begged for, enforced. This job used to feel like you were really helping families, students- but now everything is a robotic cash grab. Little pay for a lot of effort, low morale. And it's mandatory that you work evenings and weekends, no matter how long you work here. The false positivity and toxicity mentioned in other reviews is absolutely real. There is a big disconnect between consultants/lower management, and upper management/C levels. A LOT of people were laid off right before the holidays last year, with no warning or reason (this is actually the second time this has happened). And a week later we were bragging about a big contract that was obtained with a school district (a contract that was obtained in part, by the people that were just laid off). There have been a lot of decisions and changes made in the last few months that show how greedy and eager they are to please the share holders, changes that are driving a lot of tutors, employees, and clients to get angry and leave. I have personally been bullied, gaslit, chastised, and taken advantage of in my time here, all while being overworked, and underpaid. The issues mentioned just brush the surface of the rapidly growing problem of a work environment and company that VT has turned out to be.

They say they only hire the best of the best. What do they consider the best when their classes every few weeks are filled with people with no experience and under the age of 25? They say their picky. What does that mean? You only pick the best of the best of those dumb enough to apply in the first place? For those of you experience, I"m talking to YOU! You will not have leads in your name to work. It's a rotating call system. You will receive a lead that your very next door neighbor (sitting within arms length) called 1 hr and 3 minutes prior. If you pitch a deal but don't get the payment, since you don't have a direct number or extension and aren't allowed to give out your direct email, if that customer calls back in to sign up, they will get whoever is next in line to take a call and BOOM, you're done. They get the credit for the sale, not you. You own nothing. This is a great job for people with no experience and very young adults trying to gain some experience in sales, but aside from that, anyone else applying is either desperate or crazy. Fyi, the benefits stink too. Over $300 for a single PPO plan with a high deductible is just plain NUTS. But that's what you get with a start up company, Yes, start up, they aren't running off their own money, it's all funded by Venture Capitalists firms. Go figure.
